This is a seniors-helping-seniors program to identify and connect caregivers who are seniors to us for support.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AS AN AMBASSADOR:
There are many ways to make a positive impact as an Ambassador. When you join the team, you will choose how to make that impact based on your skills, experience, and comfort level.
Here are some of the ways you can support senior caregivers as an Ambassador:
- share our brochures with caregivers or at local medical clinics and community facilities
- arrange presentations so our staff can share about the programs we have that support caregivers
- help out at our information table at community events and conferences
- share your caregiving story for use on our communications channels
- advocate for solutions to the issues that affect caregivers
A VOLUNTEER ROLE THAT FITS YOUR SCHEDULE:
There is no minimum number of hours that you need to complete each month in this role. You can choose the time you spend connecting in your community based on your other priorities and commitments.
For some Ambassadors, this might look like just an hour or two per month, or even just only as the occasion arises where they may come across a senior caregiver who is struggling, such as at a local club, event, or workshop.
For other Ambassadors, this might look like several hours a month as they initiate conversations and perform outreach to forge new connections between senior-serving groups & facilities and Caregivers Alberta.
TO GET STARTED:
Your first step will be to fill out a volunteer application form. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to discuss the role and make sure it is a good fit for you. You may be asked to provide up to two references (work, volunteer, etc).
You will then complete a short general orientation and Ambassador-specific training (both online) that will equip you with the knowledge you need to succeed in this role.
