Volunteers are essential to the success of Caregivers Alberta. We rely on volunteers to lead caregiver support groups, connect with caregivers in the community and share our resources, and increase awareness of our organization across the province.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Senior Caregiver Ambassador
What you’ll do: As a volunteer Senior Caregiver Ambassador, you will be trained to develop connections between Caregivers Alberta and seniors-serving organizations in the community. You will also develop connections between Caregivers Alberta and various community organizations to facilitate the referral of senior caregivers to our organization.
Your time commitment: Training will involve approximately ten hours of time, followed by a few appearances each month. These will occur as you make connections between organizations, caregivers and Caregivers Alberta through specific ambassador activities. The nature of your ambassador activities will be discussed and agreed upon during your onboarding, based on your previous experiences and comfort levels.
Volunteer onboarding process: Application form; interview and references; police information check; orientation to Caregivers Alberta; role-specific training; confidentiality and conflict-of-interest agreements.
Types of skills and previous experiences that best-fit this role: Communication and interpersonal skills; working independently; good judgment and decision-making; lived experience as a caregiver
Please note: Being a senior (65+) is required for this role.

Peer-Support Group Facilitator
What you’ll do: As a volunteer Peer-Support Group Facilitator, you will be trained to facilitate caregiver support groups in your community. Your role will be to listen to participants and guide conversations around the challenges that come with caregiving. You’ll also be able to refer participants to other services available through Caregivers Alberta when necessary.
Your time commitment: Training for this role will take approximately 12 hours, followed by about two hours a week to administer (answering emails, setting up Zoom, etc.) and facilitate your support group.
Volunteer onboarding process: Application form; interview and references; police information check with vulnerable-sector search; orientation to Caregivers Alberta; role-specific training; confidentiality and conflict-of-interest agreements.
Types of skills and previous experiences that best-fit this role: Lived experience as a caregiver; previous experience facilitating groups; experience in the clinical/social-health sector.
