SUMMARY:Caregiver Journaling Circle - Fall Series
DESCRIPTION:Writing is a wonderful way for caregivers to reduce stress and increase coping skills. Through writing your own narrative\, you can record and review your personal experiences. In general\, this allows you to look for common thought patterns\, evaluate their effectiveness\, problem-solve and see things from a new perspective. Journaling helps us gain a greater understanding of our experiences and reclaim our “self.” \nAt each workshop\, we will gather\, share a journaling prompt\, take some personal journaling time\, then re-group to share with one another. \nThis program occurs bi-weekly on Wednesdays\, 6:30 to 8 p.m. \nFALL SESSION DATES \nSeptember 3\, 17 \nOctober 1\,15\, 29 \nNovember 12\, 26 \nDecember 10 \nPlease review our Group Guidelines before registering. \nPlease note: Registration is ongoing. You are welcome to join at any point throughout the fall session.

SUMMARY:COMPASS for the Caregiver (September 5th - 26th)
DESCRIPTION:Caregiving can be a stressful\, isolating and overwhelming experience. \nThis session runs Friday Mornings 9:30am – Noon. Dates September 5\, 12\, 19\, and 26. \nOur award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver education program helps caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of caregiving\, and is facilitated by someone who understands those challenges. \nCOMPASS for the Caregiver is a multi-session\, interactive\, online workshop series. \nSession 1 “Being a Caregiver” | \nCaregiving can be stressful\, isolating\, and have a negative impact on your physical and mental health. Understand your role as a caregiver and assess your strengths\, challenges and overall sense of self. \nSession 2 “Managing Your Stress” | \nLearn how stress can lead to burnout and what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore how to shift our mindset and seek balance in caregiving. \nSession 3 “Balancing Relationships”| \nImprove your communication skills to identify what you need\, ask for help\, and share the care. The hardest lesson as a caregiver is to regain your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first. \nSession 4 “Navigating the System”| \nIncrease your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty. \nPlease review our Group Guidelines before registering. \nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver course has a $300 value. Thanks to sponsorship from Caregivers Alberta\, this course is being offered for a $55 manual and registration fee. We understand many caregivers live on limited incomes. Upon individual request to Caregivers Alberta\, participants can apply to our COMPASS Scholarship Fund and receive assistance with registration fees\, if needed. Please contact programs@caregiversalberta.ca to learn more or to apply.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Shift - Support for Caregivers Whose Work Never Really Ends

This course is designed to support you in finding balance and resilience. You’ll explore the importance of intentionally creating downtime\, learn to assess your own well-being with the same care you offer others\, and discover practical tools to calm your nervous system and enhance your quality of life. By the end\, you’ll develop a personalized care plan that promotes recovery\, sustainability\, and long-term wellness—both at work and at home. \nThe program will run bi-weekly on Tuesdays starting September 9th. \nTime: 6:30pm -8:00pm \nDates: \nSeptember: 9 & 23 \nOctober: 7 & 21 \nNovember 4 & 18 \nDecember 2 & 16 \nPLEASE NOTE: This is a closed cohort group with limited virtual seating. SUMMARY:Caregiver Journaling Circle - Fall Series
